| Although in standard text books of glass
technology, the materials most often mentioned
as refining agents for oxide glasses are sulphate,
and oxides of arsenic and antimony, yet very
little systematic work1 has been reported on
antimony oxide either as a refining agent or its
oxidation~reduction behaviour in glass forming
oxide melts. In the present investigation, the
oxidation-reduction behaviour of antimony
oxide in simple binary sodium borate and
sodium silicate glasses has been studied as function
of soda content of the glass. |
