Abstract
In this part of investigations, studieS were made on suspensions of kyanites from Karnataka, Maharashtra and Bihar. The stability of suspensions, casting rates and relative fluidity- pH relationships of the kyanite-in-water suspensions that have been deflocculated using suitable electrolytes have been reported. For slip casting kyanites, basic electrolytes could be used as deflocculants. A sequence of mixing the various ingredients to yield satisfactory castable suspensions on bench scale has been worked out. Firing temperatures varying from 1550°-1600°C were suitable to obtain dense slip cast ware from these kyanites.
