Abstract
Pellets were prepared from magnesia powders of three different origins-(1) from magnesium oxalate, (2) from magnesium hydroxide-both calcined at 800°C for 2 hrs and (3) from fused magnesia powder. These pellets were sintered at temperatures between 900°C and 1400°C. The microstructural development in these samples was studied by scanning electron microscope. The microstructural development and its role in influencing the sinterability of powders of different origins are discussed.
