| In any manufacturing system it is not possible to
produce articles which are completely identical, however,
perfect the manufacturing conditions may be. Every
process is liable to some kind of variation which may or
may not be serious in nature. Hence depending upon
the process capability and the customers specifications,
some standards are assigned to the important characteristics
of the product. The main objectives of a manufacturer
are: (a) to produce goods which are in conformity
with the specified standards and (b) to reduce waste and
cut down cost. These objectives may conveniently be
achieved by applying suitable statistical quality control
technique. |
