| Abstract |
| The influence of experimental conditions on the hot pressing behaviour of BeO
powders derived from hydroxide was studied with a view to develop high density pellets
with minimurr. grain growth. It was found that in the temperature range of 1000°-1500°C
and with applied pressure of 1-3 t.s.i. both the temperature and pressure promoted densification.
Grain growth and crystallinity development in the hot pressed pellets were more
directly related to sintering temperature and not to the density attained. In this study
BeO samples of density of 2.98 gmfcc (theoretical3.01 gmfcc) and grain size of about
I micron were prepared by hot pressing beryllium hydroxide powder at 1250°C and
