Abstract
Eleven refractory clays from Madhya Pradesh area were studied and their chemical ilnalysis, refractoriness, particle size distribu. tion, bonding and firing characteristics were determined. Washing did not materially affect the refractoriness of these clays. While many days satisfied the refractoriness under load (Ta) requirement of the Indian Standard specification, l.S.B, their P.C.E values were consistently low. Some of the clays studied showed promise as good bond clays and some might prove good for high grade refractories.
