Abstract
Seventeen clays from Bihar, Bengal and Orissa have been studied. Their chemical nna/yses, refractoriness, particle size distribution, bonding and firing characteristics have been determined. Most of the clays are coarse to medium grained, have poor workability and binding characteristics but develop good strength on firing. In general, their refractoriness under-load is not very high.
