| The author describe~ the new system for classification
of literature on glass, ceramics and related subjects,
developed in recent years in the continent of
Europe. In view of its simplicity and accuracy the
system is being employed for classification of the
papers appear-ing in this journal. The alpha numeral
indices appear on the top right hand corner of each
