| Abstract |
| If we understand by the term "Porcelain", a translucent
white material manufactured of kaolin and fluxes, such as felspar,
then from the available records we can say that the first
porcelain was manufactured under the "Ting" dynasty, 618-907
A.D., in China. The rapid progress in the manufacture was made
under the double "Ming" dynasty during the fourteenth to
fifteenth centuries when the Chinese pottery acquired the qualities
which have rendered it famous. Subsequently the art and
technique of manufacture spread gradually to other countries.
However, it can be said that the origin of porcelain manufacture
was in China only. Very little information is available as
to the Chinese technique of porcelain manufacture. |
