Abstract
A significant c:hange in the d -+ d absorption features of incorporated divalent c:opper ion has been noted in ease of a phosphate glass with addition of alumina as one of its major components. The observed spec:tral change of the ion in the glass has been correlated to the struc:tural change of the glass network that results due to the cross-linking of the phosphate chains of the glass by the alumina.
