| The preparational routes for making nanocrystalline materials
are briefly reviewed. Structural characteristics of nanomaterials
are delineated. Magnetic properties, e.g. magnetization,
coercivity, etc of nanoparticles of ferromagnetic metals are described
and the effect of particle size thereon is discussed. Electron
spin resonance (ESR) and nuclear magnetic resonance
(NMR) techniques as used to investig:tte the effect of particle size
on the energy level structure of various metals are elaborated.
Lastly, the study of Miissbauer spectra of ultrafine particles of
iron and related compounds is disn1ssed in relation to their
magnetic behaviour. |
